Physio Rehab Class Glenelg

Physiotherapy Classes for Back Pain

As your back pain reduces through Physiotherapy Treatment, we shift focus towards improving your strength and movement patterns, to make you more resilient in day to day life. We do this in the following options:

  1. Physiotherapy appointments (1 to 1)
  2. Rehab Classes (Maximum 5)
  3. Pilates-based Mat Classes (Maximum 8)

To provide you with the best support, if you’re new to the clinic, we’ll start with a 1:1 pre-class assessment so that we understand you, your goals, and any relevant medical history.

If you’re unsure where to start, book a Physio First Appointment and in that appointment, we’ll guide you to the best starting point for your situation.

FAQ’s

What is the fastest way to relieve back pain?

Seeking professional help as soon as possible can help to speed up your recovery. With a thorough assessment, we can provide treatment to ease your pain, and give you strategies to help you recover.

We know that movement is a key element in recovery from back pain. Lying in bed for long periods can result in a slower recovery, so we encourage you to start with very small amounts of whatever movement you can manage. Start with walking for 1-2 mins, then rest for a few minutes and repeat regularly.

What causes back pain?

There are often many contributing factors when back pain occurs. It can be due to sudden overload of an activity, decreased strength and mobility due to lifestyle factors, or for no obvious reason at all.

What are the best exercises for back pain relief?

The best exercises will be the exercises that help you reduce pain and restore full movement. This will vary for each person, so it’s best to seek the help of a Physiotherapist so you’re getting the most benefit.

Should I stretch my back if it hurts?

In many cases, yes stretching can be really helpful in relieving back pain, although this is not always the case. Depending on severity of your pain, and your stage of recovery, some stretches will be more appropriate than others. Please seek the help of your Physiotherapist for more specific information.

What is the best exercise for back pain?

Once you recover from the initial, acute phase of your back pain, the best exercise for back pain will depend on your current limitations. It may be an exercise that focusses on posture, or core strength. You may benefit more from mobility and control. Your Physiotherapist will be able to guide you on the best exercises for you, or suggest developing a structured rehab program to complete under supervision in our Rehab Classes.

How can I relieve back pain quickly?

The fastest way to relieve back pain is through regular, gentle movement, pacing and targeted treatment from your Physiotherapist.
